KCNQ2 Cure 10th Anniversary: Celebrating a Decade of Progress and Community

This year, KCNQ2 Cure turns 10. Double digits! We can scarcely believe it, either. We’ve come a long way.

In 2011, 1 family created a Facebook group. That 1 became 10, then 100. In 2025, nearly 1,000 families in 66 countries are part of our KCNQ2 Cure community.

That’s the power of 10—and the exponential impact of connection.

In math, you can take the number 10 and raise it to a power—10¹, 10², 10³… Each time, it grows. Bigger. Faster. Stronger. That’s what we’re doing now.

To celebrate our first decade, we’re not just looking back—we’re raising 10 to the power of what makes this movement unstoppable: The KCNQ2 Powers of 10.

      In 2014, KCNQ2 families and scientists gathered for the first time. We didn’t just hold a summit—we sparked a movement. That moment helped launch the KCNQ2 Cure Alliance, and a decade later, our community is stronger than ever.

      At KCNQ2 Cure, we know that KCNQ2-related disorders can occur in any child in any family in any city or country around the world. Solving tricky challenges requires bringing together the best minds from around the globe.

Research is only as strong as the data behind it—and that power of sharing data (life experiences, testing results, symptoms, etc.) all begins with families like yours.

They’re the ones doing the invisible work—parents, caregivers, and loved ones who hold it all together. They don’t ask for recognition. But they deserve it.
